FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything we get asked the most — about setup, accuracy, devices, offline support, languages, and billing. Can't find your question? Email us.

01

Setup

How long does setup take?
About 60 seconds for the first clock. Pick a location on the map, set your Iqamah offsets, choose a theme, and open the shareable URL on your display. That's it.
Do I need to install software on the TV?
No. SalahClock runs in any modern browser. Smart TVs, Fire Sticks, Apple TVs, Chromecasts, Raspberry Pis, kiosk tablets — anything that can open a web page. You can also install it as a PWA on iOS, Android, Chrome OS, Windows, and macOS.
Can I share the same clock across multiple displays?
Yes. Each clock has a public shareable URL — open it on as many screens as you like. Changes to Iqamah offsets, themes, or announcements propagate to every display.
Can multiple admins manage the same clock?
Not yet — today each clock is managed from the account that created it. Multi-admin access is on our radar; if your community needs it, tell us and we'll factor that in.
02

Accuracy & calculation

Which calculation methods are supported?
Muslim World League, ISNA, Umm al-Qura, Egyptian, University of Karachi, Tehran, Shia Ithna-Ashari (Leva), Singapore (MUIS), Diyanet (Türkiye), and a custom override per clock.
Can I override the calculated times?
Yes — Iqamah times are independently configurable per prayer, and you can override the Adhan times themselves if your community follows a specific schedule.
How does Jumu'ah work?
Friday gets its own Khutbah and Iqamah fields, separate from Dhuhr, so you can show the right timing without breaking the daily schedule.
Does it handle daylight saving?
Yes — timezone is auto-detected from your coordinates and DST transitions are handled automatically. The Adhan calculation library we use (adhan.js) is the industry standard.
03

Displays & devices

Can the display play the adhan out loud?
Yes. Turn on Adhan audio in the dashboard and the display plays a real adhan recording at each prayer time, with a small on-screen player while it runs. Pick from 10 voices of renowned muezzins — 3 are free, and any paid plan unlocks all 10. There are per-prayer switches (many homes mute Fajr), a dedicated Fajr voice, and a volume slider. One note: browsers require a single tap on the screen after it loads before sound can play — after that, the adhan plays on its own.
What screens does it support?
Anything that opens a modern browser — from 360p kiosk tablets to 4K UHD wall displays. The layout scales fluidly and the typography stays crisp at every resolution.
Will the screen go to sleep?
No. SalahClock uses the Wake Lock API to keep the display on, and requests fullscreen on the first user tap. On devices without Wake Lock support, we recommend disabling sleep in OS settings.
What if the page crashes?
The kiosk wrapper has a crash boundary that auto-reloads on error, and a network watchdog that reloads if connectivity is lost for too long. You shouldn't have to touch it.
04

Offline & reliability

What happens if the Wi-Fi drops?
Nothing visible. SalahClock pre-caches 30 days of prayer times the moment you load the page, so it keeps showing accurate times offline. When the network returns, it silently re-syncs.
Can I install it as an app?
Yes. It's a Progressive Web App — add it to your iOS or Android home screen, or install from Chrome / Edge on desktop. Works completely offline after the first load.
05

Languages

Which languages are supported?
English, Arabic, Bangla, Turkish, Urdu, Indonesian, Persian (Farsi), French, Hausa, and Spanish. Every theme label is translatable, with full RTL support for Arabic, Urdu, and Persian.
Can I change the numerals?
Yes — Latin (1234), Arabic-Indic (١٢٣٤), Eastern Arabic-Indic (۱۲۳۴), and Bengali (১২৩৪). Each numeral system uses a width-matched font so columns don't wobble.
Can I add my own translations or prayer-name spelling?
Yes. Each clock can override prayer names per language — useful for communities that prefer 'Asr' vs 'Ad-Dhuhr ath-Thani' or specific local spellings.
06

Billing

Is the free plan really free?
Yes. A single clock — for a mosque, home, or office — with every language, full offline support, and a shareable URL, free forever. See pricing for the full breakdown.
How do refunds work?
Paid plans are pro-rated and you can cancel any time. If something went wrong on our side, email us — we'll make it right.
Do you offer discounts for larger institutions?
Yes. Qualifying institutions like mosque networks and schools can request a discount on a paid plan. Get in touch and tell us about your setup.
